It's a role-playing video game released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. The game is the remake of the 1991 SNES version and was released on the 20th anniversary of the Final Fantasy game franchise. Final Fantasy IV revolutionised the role-playing games and focused more on story and characters. This game presented a memorable, deep character with intricate relationships and backstories. The plot is full of dramatic turns and surprise twists. 

Game Plot

Cecil, the protagonist, is a dark knight and airship captain of the Kingdom of Baron who questions his King's order to massacre a village full of wizards. The King strips Cecil of all commands and sends him out on a genocidal mission. He fights his way through underground tunnels, sand lion dens, and Zombies Mountains. He eventually abandons the path of dark knight Dom and becomes a righteous paladin. Over the progression of this journey, Cecil finds out Golbez is behind King Baron's behaviour. He wants to collect all the world's crystals and conquer the world. Cecil goes on a mission to defeat him and assembles a group of allies along the way. Cecil and his party fight the evil monsters, wolves made of fire and giant walls.


  1. Newly added map
    There is an addition of a little rabbit character named Mapingway. Every time the player enters a dungeon, Mapingway provides the player with a map displayed on the lower of the two DS screens. As the player progresses through the dungeon, the map fills in the new areas discovered. If 100% of the map is completed the player receives a special gift. 

  2. Augments
    If an individual character leaves the party, then they can leave behind their abilities in the form of some magical items and give to another party member. That character now has the power of the other.

  3. Mini-games
    In the DS version, there is the inclusion of several Mini-games. Mini-games are only stylus-control. The mini-games are single-player or wireless multiplayer mode.
