Gameplay

The game is played by using a solitary, diagonally mounted four-way joystick. Qbert, who begins each game at the highest point of a pyramid made of 28 cubes and moves by bouncing sideways from one cube to another, is controlled by the player. Automatically, arriving on a cube changes its color, and the player advances to the next stage by changing every cube to the target color. At each stage, the goal is to change each cube in the pyramid to a target color by making Qbert, the on-screen character, jump on top of the 3D square while avoiding enemies and obstacles. Players utilize a joystick to control the character.
